10 minutes with… Pete Molloy, Account Manager
Continuing our series where you get to know the people that drive NextGear Capital behind the scenes, we caught up with Pete Molloy who supports our customers in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Tell us about your role at NextGear Capital…
I’ve worked at NextGear Capital for over three years, joining on St. Patrick’s Day 2020. I manage a portfolio of almost 100 dealers across Northern Ireland as well as four counties in the Republic. As well as developing and maintaining those existing relationships, I work hard to support new dealers as they come on board. It’s up to me to understand their needs, to keep abreast of what’s going on in the market and how best to navigate it.
How do you do it?
I carefully plan each month and make sure I see all customers that I need to. It’s about supporting dealers with every element of their Stocking Plan, as and when they need it. There’s the day-to-day stuff but there can also be visits and meetings to dealerships, to help in any way I can, that come up unexpectedly.
I always do my best to be someone cheerful in a customer’s day. But it’s not always about having fun, I approach my work in a dedicated way and customers know they can trust me and that I’ll always be there to help if they have any issues.
What do you like most about working at NextGear Capital?
It’s the people and the opportunity to excel, mainly. But fostering relationships with customers, demonstrating what we, as a business, can do for their business and seeing them grow over time. That’s a real bonus of the role. Also, the company has faith in its team’s ability to do a great job.
Sum up the culture at NextGear Capital in one word…
Success.
How do you support dealers in your role?
I always aim to help solve any query that a customer may be having, whether that’s getting vehicles loaded onto their Stocking Plan, arranging facility increases or helping them through challenging periods when cash flow is tightening.
Can you think of an example of when you last helped a dealer?
I’d like to think I help dealers on a daily basis, regardless of their need. Often that’s simply helping a dealer load a unit onto their Stocking Plan. Whatever it may be, it all makes the wheels turn more smoothly.
To finish, we have some quick-fire questions…
Tell us something surprising about you.
When I was much younger, I had a tattoo done that was a little on the embarrassing side. I’ve since had it covered up.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to relax with a little whiskey and a cigar – obviously, always in moderation.
Hobbies?
I go to the gym at least five times a week and help coach at a martial arts gym.
What is your favourite food/meal?
Indian food, all of it really.
Do you have a favourite movie?
No, far too many good movies to have an absolute favourite.
Ideal dinner party guest or guests?
My family and friends.
Favourite quote?
‘’There’s none so smart as all of us’’ – a former boss used to say it and I still firmly believe it.
One new skill you could have?
The ability to speak several languages.
Favourite chocolate bar?
Cadburys Caramilk, has to be.
